Hearing brings people together,
this holds particularly true for the National Vocational School tor Hearing-aid Acousticians and the Academy of Hearing-aid Acoustics.
Since its establishment in 1972 all hearing-aid acousticians - apprentices from all over Germany - have been trained in Lübeck. The National Vocational School for Hearing Aid Acousticians is in the same building complex as the Academy for Hearing Aid Acoustics, which is the owner of the buildings.
The Academy is the first vocational academy to be recognized by the Association Européenne des Audioprothésistes. The Academy is an independently operating affiliate of the Federal Guild of Hearing Acousticians, public corporafion located in Mainz.
Academy and National Vocational School for Hearing-aid Acousticians together:
- 2.500 participants and visitors per year
- 10.000 apprentices absolves their initial vocational training

- 57 mainly academically trained teachers
- 70 guest lecturers of the a code my

The apprentices usually come to Lübeck twice or three times a year for a 4-5 week period to absolve the theoretical part of their vocational training in the National Vocational School or to do the vocational training outside the company at the academy.
The National Vocational School and the Academy for Hearing-aid Acoustics share the same building. In order to harmonize the vocational training of the school and the external vocational training a specific concept was developed.
Both institutions work closely together within the framework of local learning co-operation, co-ordinating contents and structures. Constant co-ordination between teachers at the vocational school and lecturers at the academy guarantees that supply of training materials is always fast and unbureaucratically adapted to the state of the art and the latest findings in audiology.
This visionary training concept, which combines innovative technical equipment and interdisciplinary methods of werk enjoys a world-wide reputation.
Furthermore, the German Hearing Aids Institute (Deutsches Hörgeräteinstitut) and the office of the examination boards are also situated on the Audiology Campus; the University of Applied Sciences with its special branch of audiology is a direct neighbour.
